The IAH podcast returns with Episode 97! This one features the bhakti-infused heart of financial wizard, Jason Rotman. I wanted Jason on the podcast for awhile because I know of so few people who embody consciously infused capitalism in such an inspiring way. He lives in both the material world and the spiritual world with grace and ease. By day he's a trading expert/analyst while also being a kirtan wallah, poet and lover of bliss. Our talk covered his transformation, why kirtan works, how the markets do what they do and an all around philosophical bhakti romp into the worlds affairs.

Jason Rotman is an advisor for alternative trading and investments at Lido Isle Advisors. He has also been playing sacred chant music since 2008 as Krishna’s Kirtan, a group that is known for sharing explosive and devotional kirtan (sacred chanting).

Krishna’s Kirtan is a veteran contributor at Bhaktifest, one of the largest yoga and music festivals in the country. Highly in demand for health and yoga retreats, events, and festivals, the group provides a powerful presence of love, spirituality, and deep devotion.

His kirtan album "Krishna's Kirtan" can be purchased by visiting here

His book of devotional poetry can be purchased here:

72 Messages of Love

Mar 17, 2017

There are many great teachers and musicians who have come on the IAH podcast but I have to say that the magic, wisdom and love that Jai Uttal brought to the kitchen table was like nothing else. Jai effortlessly weaves together stories, knowledge and devotion into one voice like few others can do. We talked about his early days studying with Ali Akbar Khan, the landscape of spirituality and the 1960s, his passion for Indian classical music and kirtan and of course Neem Karoli Baba. Hearing Jai tell these stories had me forgetting that I was supposed to be on the other side of the table guiding the conversation. It was as if I was I was floating down the Ganga yearning for more of the unique musical magic that Jai creates. His new album "Roots, Rock, Rama!" is out now.

Jai Uttal has been rightly hailed as a world music pioneer. Singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer, he was among the first to hear the universal heartbeat in the variegated rhythms of the globe. But his powerful, plangent voice and panoramic musical vision have also long been at the core of the yoga community’s tradition of call-and response devotional chanting known as kirtan. While his music is deeply rooted in Indian classical tradition—he studied long and hard under the Indian sarod master Ali Akbar Khan—it is also plentifully imbued with echoes of reggae, rock, folk, Brazilian music, Bollywood and other sounds from across the musical universe. All of these diverse and colorful strands are woven together beautifully on Roots, Rock, Rama!

2017 sees us diving into the multi-verse with the great Dr. Fiorella Terenzi! Astrophysicist, Professor, Author and Musician - Fiorella blends so much knowledge and passion for the stars with her unique and poetic world view. Back in 1995 or so, Fiorella made some music with my dad that featured radio waves she captured from the galaxy and then transformed into soothing beats and melodies. We talked about that, bending the universe, the nature of space and time, black holes and why we must continue to look to the stars for our very survival. This was taped away from the cozy confines of the kitchen table in LA. It was taped live in Miami from her kitchen table! It was a wonderful, provocative and thought provoking interview. I've known Fiorella for 25 years and she's always been one of the most creative thinkers in this and any other galaxy!

His new book 'Sometimes Brilliant' is out now and covers his life story that includes meeting his teacher Neem Karoli Baba to starting the SEVA foundation.
